The weather may be ridiculously hot in Phoenix, Arizona, but so is the nightlife, the day life, the bars, restaurants, hotels, cocktail lounges, golf courses, sports fields, and everything else you can do, eat and drink. And after golfing, shopping, and rooting for the home team, you’ll be hungry. And very thirsty. We’ve rounded up the top 8 places to drink in Phoenix.

As a bonus, we’ve included drink spots in picturesque Sedona and one in the mountainous Flagstaff.

8 Places to Drink in Phoenix

Counter Intuitive, Stetson Drive, Phoenix, AZ
At Counter Intuitive, owned by Jason Asher and Rich Furnari, the cocktails take center stage. With rotating themed drink menus debuting three times a year, Counter Intuitive’s spot on Thrillist’s list of The Best Damn Cocktail Bars in Phoenix is well earned. As the name implies, not everything in this Downtown Scottsdale bar is what you would expect. In other words, don’t miss out on the food. /  📷: @counterintuitiveaz

Westin Kierland, E. Greenway Parkway, Phoenix, AZ
For those that love the game of golf, the Westin Kierland is for you. If you love spa days and lounging poolside or a well-appointed hotel room, the Westin is also for you. Despite what you think, we, in fact, didn’t put this spot on our eight favorites places to drink in Phoenix because the day spa is called “Agave.” The Westin made the list because there is no better way to beat the heat of a desert day than by lounging poolside or floating down a 900-foot lazy river with an Azuñia tequila cocktail. / 📷: @westinkierland

Ocotillo, N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ
October in Phoenix is undeniably one of the most spectacular times to be in the Valley of the Sun. The daytime temps drop to tolerable and the evenings culminate in sunsets beyond description. Ocotillo brings the outdoors in and vice versa. The expansive space with a small village atmosphere, overseen by General Manager David Johnson and chefs Sacha Levine and Walter Sterling, is a culinary delight any meal of the day. They even have a to-go coffee bar that opens at 6:30 am. So, an Azuñia margarita might have to wait until lunch. / 📷: @ocotilloPHX

Sumo Maya, N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ
International Sumo Maya isn’t so just because it has locations in Arizona, Texas, and Barcelona. The Mexican Asian fusion restaurant is a culinary excursion without a plane flight. Mix and match the small plates with a big group to get a sampling of unique flavor combinations. Relax in the free-form dining areas and ask the bartender to make up a signature drink like the Chinga Tu Maya with Azuñia tequila. / 📷: @sumo_maya

Clever Koi, N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ
Open kitchen with a wood-fired grill and roaring woks, make Clever Koi, well, clever. This Asian-fusion hot spot (literally) takes the desert heat and brings it inside. With regional items from Thailand, Korea, China, and Vietnam, to name a few, there’s something for everyone. But don’t just take our word for it. / 📷: @cleverkoi
