National Margarita Day: Mix up these 5 Margs

National Margarita Day

“If life gives you limes, make margaritas.” – Jimmy Buffet

We like the way Jimmy thinks. Famous for writing songs about relaxing in the sun under palm trees with a tropical drink, Jimmy Buffet is the unofficial ambassador of National Margarita Day. At the very least he should sing a few songs during the opening ceremonies of one of our favorite drinking holidays.

Technically, there aren’t opening ceremonies for National Margarita Day, but it seems like there probably should be. If there were such a thing (2019 #NationalMargaritaDay – we see you!), it seems like we would kick off the festivities with a countdown of your top 5 drinks before starting the all-day party.

But, why wait? Without further ado, here are our 5 most popular margarita recipes.

Apple Cider Margarita - Margarita History

Apple Cider Margarita
Life may give you lemons (or limes), but some days it may give you apples. And when it does, mix up this boozy cider for a special treat. Reposado, Orange Curaçao, fresh orange juice, and apple cider create a winter version of the sunshine margarita. Seems like you should take a bite out of one tonight.

Recipe
1.5 oz Azuñia Reposado Organic Tequila
.5 oz Orange Curacao Liqueur
.5 oz Fresh Orange Juice
1.5 oz Apple Cider

Combine ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and shake. Next, strain into rocks glass and garnish with apple slice.

Jalapeno Margarita

Jalapeño Margarita
Spice up National Margarita Day with this kicked-up concoction, the Jalapeño Margarita. Muddled jalapeños catapult Reposado organic tequila, 100% Blue Agave Syrup, and fresh lime to next-level spice. You control the heat. Dial it up and add a few extra peppers or keep it cool with just a couple slices. Any way you like it, certainly it’s the perfect second act to National Margarita Day.

Recipe
2 oz Azuñia Reposado Organic Tequila
1 oz Azuñia 100% Blue Agave Syrup (2:1 agave syrup to water)
1 oz fresh Lime Juice
1 slice Jalapeño Chili, muddled

Combine ingredients in an ice-filled shaker, shake, and strain into rocks glass. Next, fill with ice and garnish with a jalapeño slice.

Coco Mango Margarita

Coco Mango Margarita
Next on the list is a drink that should be shaken up poolside. Don’t have a pool? Or it’s currently blanketed in snow? No problem. The Coco Mango Margarita will transport you to a tropical oasis in your mind. Shake up Azuñia Blanco, Grand Marnier, coconut, mango, and lime, and blue agave syrup. Don’t forget the coconut honey rim for the ideal island experience.

Recipe
1.5 oz Azuñia Blanco Organic Tequila
1.5 oz Triple Sec
1.5 oz Azuñia Agave Simple Syrup (2:1 agave syrup to water)
1.5 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
.75 oz Mango Puree “Perfect Puree” Blend (equal parts puree and water)
1 splash Coconut Puree “Perfect puree” Blend (equal parts puree and water)

Shake all ingredients with ice. Next, serve on the rocks with local honey and coconut flake rimmed glass.

Blood Orange Margarita
We’re feeling a little (okay, a lot) nostalgic for the good old days of summer. Above all, one of the most wonderful things about National Margarita Day falling in winter is having all the citrus in season. Though the citrus fruit we get most excited about has got to be the blood orange. Squeeze fresh blood oranges with Azuñia 100% Blue Agave Syrup, fresh lime, Azuñia Reposado, and Cointreau for a margarita that mixes the best of all seasons.

Recipe
1.5 oz Azuñia Reposado Organic Tequila
.5 oz Cointreau
.5 oz Azuñia 100% Blue Agave Syrup (2:1 syrup to water)
1 oz Fresh Blood Orange Juice
.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker and shake. Next, strain into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass and garnish with a blood orange wheel.

Azunia Organica Skinny Organic Margarita

Azuñia Organica
And, finally, the OG of margaritas! The Azuñia Organica is the quintessential cocktail for National Margarita Day! In our world, there’s only one margarita that embodies the simplicity and authenticity of the true original. Made with Blanco organic tequila, organic Azuñia 100% Blue agave syrup, fresh lime, and a splash of water it’s an honestly authentic libation – and the perfect cocktail to close out National Margarita Day.

Recipe
1.5 oz Azuñia Blanco Organic Tequila
.75 oz Azuñia 100% Blue Agave Syrup
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
Splash of Water
Sea Salt for Rim
Organic Lime Wheel for Garnish

Add the ingredients to a shaker filled with ice and shake. Rub the lime along the rim of chilled margarita or rocks glass. Coat the rim with salt. Next, strain into glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.
