Game Day Cocktails are Essential for Pigskin Prep

Denver Broncos Football

pig·skin

[ˈpiɡˌskin/]

noun

    1. the hide of a domestic pig.
    2. NORTH AMERICAN informal, a football.

Pigskin prep typically means “high school football”. In Denver, Colorado, however, pigskin prep is what you do before Broncos’ football. Broncos’ football is a time-honored tradition, and the team is beloved by millions. Each fan has their own game-day ritual – from wearing certain attire to viewing the game with specific friends. Some even plan where and what to eat pre-game and which game-day cocktails to drink. The fans know that the Broncos are world champions for a reason – their superstitious traditions.

Prepping for Broncos Football

Just this October, over 70 lucky Broncos fans started a new tradition for pigskin prep. The Palm Denver hosted a brunch party bus from their restaurant to the Broncos’ game against the Atlanta Falcons. On any given Sunday, the Palm serves up a fantastic buffet brunch with bottomless Mimosa and Margarita bars. But on Broncos football Sunday, the brunch goes into overtime.

Fans and non-fans (if there is such a thing in Denver) enjoy a delicious pre-game brunch spread and drinks in the newly remodeled restaurant. Chad Skrbina, head bartender, mixes up some Broncos football themed tailgate drinks. Our fave is the Orange and Blue Margarita, made with fresh orange and lime juices, sour mix, agave syrup and Azuñia Blanco organic tequila. Chad pours the drink into a glass rimmed with blue and orange salt, and then a float of Blue Curaçao (Even the drinks are Broncos loyal). If you like your game-day cocktails spicy hot, order a Palm Smash, a fiery mix of serrano, basil, cucumber, lime, agave syrup, and Azuñia Reposado organic tequila.

Ticket to the Party Bus

Now it’s time to jump on the party bus for door-to-door party service to Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium for the game. No ticket, no problem. Meet up with friends to continue the party in the parking lot. Either way, the bus will pick you up post-game and deliver you back (safely) to the Palm.

This is one Broncos football tradition we cheer for. Luckily, you can still jump on the Broncos bandwagon. The Palm Denver and Azuñia are hosting two more Sunday Football Bus experiences… November 27th against the Kansas City Chiefs, and January 1st, versus the Oakland Raiders.

The Palm makes it easy to do football Sunday with an awesome brunch, mouthwatering margaritas, and transportation to the game. Did we mention that the Palm is located in the Westin Hotel? That means you also have a place to sleep. Not only is this a new way to pigskin prep, it’s a new way to pigskin post.

We Say “Football”. You Say “So What?”

Not everyone loves football. It’s okay. We don’t judge. But everyone loves tequila. To find a bar or retail location near you that serves Azuñia, visit our “Where To Buy” page. We don’t sell foam fingers, but we can direct you where to buy tequila.
